Greensburg Go-Getters 4-H Club

Take a Hike. At their monthly club meeting, members of the Greensburg Go-Getters 4-H club hiked the trails of the Yankauer Nature Preserve under the guidance of Mary Beth Grove, a preserve volunteer.  Mrs. Grove told members how the preserve was formed on 104 acres of farm land, and how the trails were cut by individual volunteers and groups.  If you like to hike there are several trails ranging in length from short to long for you to try.  The preserve is open from dawn to dusk. For more information on the preserve you can go to their website at potomacaudubon.org

Go-Getters 4-H Club Elects New Officers
During the August meeting of the Greensburg Go-Getters4-H Club, members elected a new slate of officers for the upcoming 2010-2011 year.  New officers are:  Jared Shackelford, President; Autumn Funkhouser, Vice President; Desirae Reed, Secretary; Emily Keefer, Treasurer; Matthew Gillich, Reporter; Keegan Miller, Historian; Song leader/Chaplain, Kyle Cunningham; Austin Hager and Jasmine Miller, Health Officers; Arianna Cunningham, Head Officer; Game Leader, Kaitlyn Semler, Snack Leader, Lilly Keefer.  Congratulations to all new officers.

After elections, the club wrapped up the year discussing the fair, going over fair score sheets, animal record guides, activity sheets and talking about what could have been done to improve fair participation.  Meetings were set up for new officers, parents, and leaders to plan the New Year with more community service activities, ways to make the meetings more fun, and new and exciting fundraising ideas.

After the meeting was adjourned, members, parents, and leaders enjoyed several flavors of ice cream from The American Ice Cream Company. What a yummy way to wrap up the 4-H year!
